Oxbow Dam, Oregon

After being well fed and bathed at my cousin’s house, we continued from Baker City to Oxbow Dam on the Oregon Idaho border. We are camped on the Snake River, 74 miles later. The wind was again to our backs, so we made great time. We followed the Powder River much of the time, then Pine Creek, both of which support beautiful green valleys.

The evening was a bit frightening; a massive thunderstorm hit us from every direction at once, with huge clouds dropping into the deep canyon we were in. Lightning could be seen every few seconds for a long time.

We rolled into Cambridge, Idaho and set up camp under the water tower that fed the 341 people who lived there. The ground was wet from the storm the previous day. That evening, it rained again, the third day of rain in a row.
